Dr. Marcia Angell of Harvard Medical School and former Editor in Chief of the prestigious New England Journal of Medicine has cried 'Enough' when it comes to Clinical Trials and has told the world that 'We can no longer trust cancer drug clinical trials'.
“It is simply no longer possible to believe much of the clinical research that is published or to rely on the judgment of trusted physicians or authoritative medical guidelines. I take no pleasure in this conclusion, which I reached slowly and reluctantly over my two decades as an editor of The New England Journal of Medicine.”
In fact, in October 2017, Angell went further – she published an article in the New York Review of books entitled, ‘Drug Companies and Doctors: A Story of Corruption.’
One of her examples was Dr. Joseph Biederman, a psychiatry professor at Harvard Medical School, who because of his support and actions for certain drugs, has contributed to “children as young as two years old being diagnosed with bipolar disease and treated with a cocktail of powerful drugs, many of which are not even approved for children below 10 years of age”.
Biederman has now been reprimanded along with several colleagues for taking monies from the Drugs Companies in order to push the drugs. Needless to say he didn’t disclose this to Harvard.
Angell believes this sort of behaviour is widespread across the whole medical field with her estimate being that ‘tens of billions of dollars’ are paid by drugs companies to Doctors particularly those in prestigious medical schools. She calls it a ‘Disease’.
Chris Woollams, former Oxford University Biochemist and founder of CANCERactive said that “Yet again, a person in authority has come out and said exactly what many of us understood as common practice for several decades. Dodgy drugs and vaccines, of little benefit, with Clinical Trials you can’t trust, being hyped by Doctors and Health Bodies and Charities alike in return for financial gain. The last person was probably Peter C. Gøtzsche, head of the prestigious Nordic Cochrane Centre, who blew the whistle in his book ‘Deadly Medicines and Organised Crime: How Big Pharma has corrupted Healthcare’. He described the whole business as a charade of fraudulent behaviour, both in research and marketing, where a morally repugnant disregard for human lives is the norm.
The whole system is corrupt. It is, truly, a disease in itself.
Recently the highly respected Professor Charlie Swanton of UCL in London reviewed (1) all 71 cancer drugs launched in the past 12 years and concluded that they provided on average only a 2.1 month increase in survival. For the money spent, the research time spent, the hype around each created, it's a serious reality check.
We have also had three or four other reports and research studies by leading Doctors in the UK showing that many drugs and orthodox treatments for cancer simply do not increase survival times. And some studies have even shown that drugs increase the aggression or spread of cancers. With the Drugs companies spending huge sums of money on ‘marketing’, ultimately it’s the tax payers and patients in the UK who pay. No wonder the NHS is so stretched; its finances exposed. It’s time honest politicians took a stern grip of this problem and cut out the fake news, hype and patient fraud. It’s quack medicine.
