Triptorelin (Decapeptyl SR, Gonapeptyl Depot)

This patient-friendly article is about chemotherapy drug, Triptorelin (Decapeptyl SR, Gonapeptyl Depot) which is a hormone therapy used with advanced prostate cancer and works by lowering the amount testosterone. It is taken by injection monthly or even three-monthly.

Side effects can include: tumour flare (see Torefimine), hot flushes, breast tenderness, loss of sex drive and impotence (generally temporary), mild nausea, vomiting and diarrhoea and possible osteoporosis risk if taken for long periods of time.
